Adéla Kaňová (Strašková)

Adéla Kaňová (AK) focuses on the biogenesis and organization of photosynthetic complexes in cyanobacteria, with a specific emphasis on Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803. Using advanced molecular biological, biochemical and imaging methods, she is involved in investigating the complex processes of photosystem assembly and thylakoid membrane organization (Strašková et al., 2019; Yu et al., 2018). Key techniques include generating of Synechocystis mutant strains, protein isolation, analysis of protein complexes and confocal microscopy methods (Strašková et al., 2018). AK has recently returned from maternity leave and has resumed her research focus on proteins involved in the initial stages of photosystem II (PSII) assembly and other components crucial for the de novo biogenesis and quality control of PSII in Synechocystis cells.
