Main research interest

On the beggining of my study, I was dealing mainly with taxonomy and ecology of freshwater cyanobacteria and algae. I participated in many field works containing microscopic determination of species from different habitats. Later, I started to focus on the cyanobacterial secondary metabolites with biological activity on cancer cell lines. My main interest is testing of compounds isolated from cyanobacteria on cancer lines in vitro and investigate their mechanism of action and the type of cell death, especially apoptosis. My biggest interest is currently aimed at metabolomics and flow cytometry.

Scientific expertise

Taxonomy of algae and cyanobacteria; cell cultures; cell based assays; fluorescence microscopy, preparation of metabolomic and proteomic samples. Marginally HPLC-HRMS and flow cytometry.
